Five Years of Megatank Solar Kenya: A Beginning, Not a Finish Line

Five Years of Megatank Solar Kenya: A Beginning, Not a Finish Line

admin By  September 24, 2026 0 38

Five years ago, Megatank came to Kenya with a clear belief: that this was a country with enormous potential, a growing economy and a real need for reliable, affordable and sustainable energy. Five years later, after celebrating our journey with our customers, partners, financiers and team, that belief feels stronger than ever.

As the Marketing Manager at Megatank Solar Kenya, the 5th Anniversary dinner was more than a celebration for me. It was a moment to step back and appreciate how far the business has come and, more importantly, to look at the opportunity in front of us.

The energy conversation in Kenya has changed. Businesses are no longer looking at solar only because it is renewable. They are asking practical business questions: How do we reduce our energy costs? How do we protect our operations from interruptions? How do we get more value from the energy we generate? How do we become more independent and resilient?

That is where Energy Storage Systems (ESS) become so important. The future is not simply about generating power. It is about generating, storing and intelligently managing energy. For commercial and industrial businesses, that means having a smarter way to approach energy costs, reliability, resilience and long-term growth.

A Special Thank You to Gerry

I want to give special recognition to our CEO, Gerry, for the vision that brought Megatank to Kenya and for the commitment to building the business for the long term. It is easy to celebrate five years when you are looking at the photographs, projects and milestones. What is less visible is the persistence required to build a company, develop trust in a new market and keep investing in the future.

Gerry’s message at the anniversary dinner captured what this journey means: Kenya has become much more than a market for Megatank; it has become an important part of our story. That commitment matters. It tells our customers and partners that Megatank is not here for a short-term opportunity. We are here to build, invest, partner and grow with Kenya’s commercial and industrial sector.

Our Installers and EPC Partners Are Part of the Story

No energy company builds a market alone. One of the biggest lessons from these five years is that strong technology needs strong partners around it. Our installers, EPCs, engineers and technical partners are a critical part of the Megatank story.

To every installer and EPC that has specified our solutions, introduced us to customers, worked with our technical teams, stood behind our products and trusted us on projects, thank you. Your work is part of how Megatank has built credibility in Kenya. Every installation is not just a project completed; it is another opportunity to demonstrate what good energy storage can do for a business.

We value these relationships because our ambition is bigger than selling a battery or an inverter. We want to be a long-term energy solutions partner to the people and companies delivering commercial and industrial projects across Kenya.

Financing Is Part of the Energy Transition

I also want to acknowledge the financial institutions that are helping make this transition possible. Gerry highlighted the importance of our relationships with KCB, DTB, Sidian Bank, Family Bank and Equity Bank, and I could not agree more.

For a business, investing in better energy should not have to compete with every other growth priority. Financing can help make clean, reliable energy more accessible and strengthen the business case for commercial and industrial energy storage. That is why partnerships between energy companies and financial institutions are so important.

We appreciate the banks and financing partners who are engaging with us and helping us find practical ways for more Kenyan businesses to access modern energy solutions.

Why Megatank, and Why ESS?

From my perspective in marketing, one thing has become very clear: the conversation around energy storage has moved from being purely technical to being a business conversation. Commercial and industrial customers want solutions that make operational and financial sense.

This is the space Megatank Solar Kenya is committed to. We are building our position as a commercial and industrial Energy Storage System solutions provider, helping businesses think differently about how they generate, store and manage energy.

I believe Megatank has earned its place among the companies shaping this conversation in Kenya. Our ambition is to be the preferred partner for businesses looking for dependable, high-quality ESS solutions, not simply because of the technology we provide, but because of the partnerships, technical support and long-term commitment we bring with it.

For me, that is what makes Megatank different: we are not looking at energy storage as a product category. We are looking at it as part of a bigger business solution, one that can support resilience, energy independence, cost management and competitiveness.

Five Years Is Just the Beginning

Our 5th Anniversary was a celebration of what has already been built, but I do not see it as a finish line. I see it as the beginning of the next chapter.

There are more businesses to reach, more EPC relationships to build, more projects to deliver and more conversations to have with financial institutions, developers, manufacturers, hotels, hospitals, data centres, agro-processors and other organisations looking for better ways to manage their energy.

Kenya’s energy sector is evolving, and Megatank intends to be part of that evolution. We want to see more commercial and industrial businesses adopt solar, battery storage and smarter energy management. We want to contribute to projects that make businesses more resilient and competitive. And we want to keep building the partnerships that make this possible.

To our customers: thank you for trusting us. To our installers and EPC partners: thank you for building with us. To our banking and financing partners: thank you for helping make the transition more accessible. To our team: thank you for the work that happens behind every project, campaign, installation and customer relationship. And to Gerry, thank you for believing in the Kenyan opportunity and continuing to build for the long term.

Five years in, I am proud of where Megatank Solar Kenya stands today. But I am even more excited about where we are going. We are here to stay, we are here to grow, and we are ready for the next generation of commercial and industrial energy projects in Kenya.

Five years is a milestone. The next five years are the opportunity.
